Astoria is 8-2 against Tillamook since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Astoria Fishermen will head out on the road to take on the Tillamook Cheesemakers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Astoria's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Astoria pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Seaside 65-60.
Meanwhile, Tillamook's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight loss. They suffered a tough 76-51 defeat at the hands of Scappoose. While losing is never fun, Tillamook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Scappoose is ranked 96th).
Astoria's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for Tillamook, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Astoria against Tillamook in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the team secured a 80-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Astoria since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
