Baseball Recap: Brockway Comes Up Short

Brockway had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it four. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.

Caleb Daugherty and Gage Park stepped up to the plate in a big way. Daugherty went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Park went 3-for-4 with two runs. Eric Lindemuth was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As for DuBois Central Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-3. Ten seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On DuBois Central Catholic's side, Carter Himes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Himes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Zatsick, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marek Hoyt, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brockway will challenge Cameron County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rovers are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they will face off against Moniteau at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Warriors will have lost three straight heading into Wednesday's contest.
