WPIAL AAA Northeastern recap October 22, 2013
Mars's Jason Lozzi recorded the longest rushing play in WPIAL AAA Northeastern this season in his game against Hollidaysburg last week. Lozzi ran for 76 yards on the play and finished with 119 on the day as his team defeated the Golden Tigers.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Mars beat Hollidaysburg 69-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for Scott D Heinauer's team.
Joshua Schultheis was a passing and rushing force as the Fightin' Planets bested Homer DeLattre's team.
Brett Zanotto put up the best numbers in passing as Franklin Regional bested Hampton. He finished with a total of 1 completions for 35 yards and 1 touchdown.
6-foot-1 quarterback Daniel Farinelli of Knoch is the league leader in passing yards this season with 950. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ryan Waltz. The Hollidaysburg star has 18 catches for 358 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mars takes on the Talbots. As it stands, the Fightin' Planets are in first, while Hampton is in fourth.
Mars took down the Golden Tigers 69-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Schultheis ran for 181 yards during the win.
