Basketball Game Preview: Miami East Vikings vs. Versailles Tigers

The Miami East Vikings and the Versailles Tigers will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Miami East will head into Tuesday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They came up short against Legacy Christian Academy, falling 53-32. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Knights are ranked 80th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jacqueline Kadel, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mara Fine, who had nine points.

Even though they lost, Miami East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Versailles ended up a good deal behind Fort Loramie on Saturday and lost 62-45. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Redskins: they've now lost seven in a row.

Miami East's record now sits at 3-5. As for Versailles, their record now sits at an identical 3-5.

Miami East skirted past Versailles 41-39 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miami East since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
