Mark Twain is 1-8 against the Wildcats since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mark Twain Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Montgomery County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Mark Twain is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-47, which was the final score in Mark Twain's tilt against the Indians on Friday. While losing is never fun, Mark Twain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while the Indians are ranked 191st).
Meanwhile, Montgomery County strolled past the Indians with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 63-46. Montgomery County pushed the score to 50-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.
Mark Twain has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Montgomery County, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Mark Twain, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 80-61 loss to the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Mark Twain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
