Cambridge Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zay Burton, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Burton has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ian Jansen, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Cambridge Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Brandon Academy against Bayshore Christian on Tuesday as the squad secured a 65-28 victory. The Scorpions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.
Cambridge Christian better focus on containing Aaron Miller-Holmes and Rashad Carriera as the pair were huge in Brandon Academy's win. Miller-Holmes went 12 of 16 on his way to 26 points, while Carriera dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Davian Colon, who posted seven points and five steals.
Brandon Academy has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Cambridge Christian, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Cambridge Christian has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 71.3% of their three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Brandon Academy struggles in that department as they've made 45.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
