The San Elizario Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 38-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clint. San Elizario was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clint apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, San Elizario had strong showings from Maya Contreras, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and walker Jayden, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds. That was a full 42.4% of San Elizario's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Aylin Garcia continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clint, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Arredondo, who scored seven points along with three steals.
San Elizario has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Clint, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
San Elizario will look to defend their home court on Friday against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. Riverside is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 18 games. As for Clint, they will head out on the road to challenge Fabens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
