There's no place like home for Athens, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Logan Chieftains on Saturday as the Athens Bulldogs made off with a 58-36 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.
Athens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Banks led the charge by putting up 19 points along with seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Chapman, who posted 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.
Athens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Logan only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Several Chieftains players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makenzie Daubenmire, who scored ten points along with eight boards and six blocks. Daubenmire is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryann Landis, who had ten points.
Athens pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.8 points. As for Logan, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Athens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-33 victory against Vinton County on the 3rd. Logan has also already played their next game (against Lancaster), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
