The Churubusco Eagles lost against the Angola Hornets back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Churubusco's rough 68-44 loss to the Hornets might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Churubusco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Hornets are ranked 126th).
Despite the defeat, Churubusco had strong showings from Patty Wiggs, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and Brooklyn Sinclair, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wiggs has scored all season.
Churubusco has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Angola, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Churubusco will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central Noble focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Angola, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Saints at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Hornets a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
