Having just played yesterday, the Danbury Hatters will head out on the road to face off against the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. On Thursday, Danbury lost to Wilbur Cross on the road by a decisive 75-58 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Danbury came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Wilbur Cross is ranked 85th).
Meanwhile, Waterbury Career Academy waltzed into their contest Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 74-51 win. Waterbury Career Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Andrew Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The game was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Williams, who scored 13 points.
Danbury's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Danbury skirted past Waterbury Career Academy 68-65 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Waterbury Career Academy's Sonny Pierce, who scored 22 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Danbury to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
