Baseball Recap: Lenape's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Lenape dropped their record down to 7-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Cherokee Chiefs by a score of 5-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in April.

As for Cherokee, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 18-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.7 runs this season.

For Cherokee's part, Joshua Litsky tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Litsky has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brett Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Lenape will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancocas Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cherokee, they will head out to square off against Shawnee at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chiefs 1.6, the Renegades 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
