Silver is a perfect 3-0 against Albuquerque Academy since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Silver will challenge Albuquerque Academy at 10:50 a.m. Silver is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Silver is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Piedra Vista, who was ranked 13th at the time (Silver was ranked eighth). Silver put the hurt on Piedra Vista with a sharp 12-5 win on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Fighting Colts, who have now won three contests in a row.

Azzy Madrid spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Maria Ruelaz was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabell Villa, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Silver hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy beat Kirtland Central 13-8 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Melissa Purcella made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Purcella was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Albuquerque Academy got a massive performance out of Addie Spratley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Spratley's first of the season. Sydney Koranyi was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Silver's record now sits at 9-3. As for Albuquerque Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Albuquerque Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Silver has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Albuquerque Academy, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Silver's sizable advantage in that area, Albuquerque Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
