Sunnyside extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 5-8. They came up short against the Eastmont Wildcats, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 on Friday.
Lili Briones was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Makenna Castro was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
As for Eastmont, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On Eastmont's side, Liz Fulbright spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up 13 Ks. Fulbright also set a new season-high mark in hits with four.
At the plate, Makenna Eakle and Allie Hastings did most of the damage at the plate: Eakle got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Hastings went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run. That's the most runs Eakle has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aubree Clark, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Sunnyside will host Pasco at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastmont, they will venture away from home to square off against Eisenhower at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
