1A District 3 recap October 1, 2013
Chipley scaled the state rankings by moving to 299 from 341 this week, the biggest jump in 1A District 3. The Tigers were able to move up by topping Port St. Joe 28-16.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Blountstown beat Liberty County 21-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Dylan Lee was a passing and rushing force as Blountstown beat the Bulldogs. He completed 5 passes for 118 yards and also ran for 7 yards. Lee's key target this week was Hunter Jordan, who caught 2 passes for 75 yards.
Justin Parsons was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 30 yards on 9 carries as Bozeman lost to Vernon. Reed Ruddick also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Johnathan Ortner of South Walton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 712. He has also thrown 9 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Elmore. The Bozeman star has 14 catches for 363 yards.
As it stands, the Bucks are in fourth, while Greg Jordan's team is in first.
Chipley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,600 from 6,873. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-16 victory over the Sharks last week.
