Akron has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will challenge the Barker Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Akron had to settle for a 50-47 defeat against Pembroke. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Akron in their matchups with Pembroke: they've now lost three in a row.
Brale Abrams put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Lamont, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, even though Alden scored an imposing 61 points last Wednesday, Barker still came out on top. Barker managed a 65-61 win over Alden. The win was just what Barker needed coming off of a 71-46 defeat in their prior match.
Akron's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1. As for Barker, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Akron came up short against Barker in their previous meeting back in February, falling 62-57. Can Akron avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
