Basketball Recap: Bri Smith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Conway

Socastee barely beat Conway the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves blew past the Tigers 53-32 on Friday. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Socastee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bri Smith, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and four steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Trinity Sumpter, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 boards.

Socastee was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are 6-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Conway's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rebecca Hemingway, who posted 18 points, and Saryah Locklear, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for Socastee and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for Conway, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Socastee will challenge St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Conway, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-37 defeat against Trinity Collegiate on the 17th.
