The Midlothian Panthers won the last time they faced the Cleburne Yellowjackets, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Midlothian walked away with a 56-43 win over Cleburne. Given Midlothian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Cleburne is ranked 1034th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alex Gilmore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jacob Almodovar, who scored 13 points.
Midlothian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Cleburne, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Midlothian will be home for the holidays to greet Joshua at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cleburne, they will head out on the road to face off against Burleson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burleson is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
