8A District 6 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Plant extended the longest winning streak in 8A District 6 this week by beating Alonso, 22-12. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Panthers.
Wharton led the league in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Bloomingdale. Chase Litton threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Wesley Bullock was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 211 yards as Plant topped the Bulls. Teammate Aaron Banks added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.
Hopkins was the best wideout in 8A District 6 this week as Wharton beat Bloomingdale. Hopkins tallied three receptions for 103 yards. Jeff Keil helped Wharton's passing attack out by catching four balls for 68 yards.
David Mitchell's team's Litton and Hopkins have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Litton has thrown for 1649 yards this season, while Hopkins, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 30 catches for 597 yards. Ish Witter from the Ravens leads the league in rushing with 834 yards.
John Booth's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,372 from 4,633. The improvement was the result of 28-14 victory over the Bulls last week.
