The Davis Darts will venture away from home to square off against the Fremont Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Davis' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Fremont's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Davis is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Riverton, who was ranked first at the time (Davis was ranked fifth). The Darts lost 19-3 to the Silverwolves on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Darts, who until this matchup were averaging 2.88 runs allowed.
Davis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Norah Sunderland, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fremont). They put the hurt on Bonneville with a sharp 23-3 victory on Thursday. The Silverwolves have beaten the Lakers the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lakers has come to flipping the script.
Adelaide Johnsen made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Johnsen was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Griffis was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Clark, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Having lost for the first time this season, Davis fell to 7-1. As for Fremont, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Davis hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Fremont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Davis beat Fremont 7-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Darts repeat their success, or do the Silverwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
