Karnes wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Hartman, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Franklin County, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Halifax County on Friday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Brooke Weaver tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Franklin County got a big performance out of Maria Gutierrez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Gutierrez also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Madison Ingram was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Cave Spring pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Franklin County, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Cave Spring skirted past Franklin County 9-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
