The Randolph-Henry Statesmen will head out on the road to challenge the Rustburg Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Randolph-Henry is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Randolph-Henry posted their closest win yet this season last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 win over Nottoway. The victory was just what Randolph-Henry needed coming off of a 59-18 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Rustburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 44-38 to Glass.
Despite their defeat, Rustburg saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Olivia Tyree, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Samiyah Jackson, who scored nine points.
Randolph-Henry's win ended a 14-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Rustburg, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
Randolph-Henry suffered a grim 51-25 defeat to Rustburg in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Randolph-Henry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
