It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lucas Christian Academy Warriors had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 68-48 margin over the Cavaliers. Considering Lucas Christian Academy has won seven games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucas Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylee Holman out in front who threw for 427 yards and seven touchdowns. Rylan Goss also deserves a shout-out for his four touchdowns.
Covenant Classical's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hudson Williams, who threw for 432 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Williams hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Blake Schroeder was another key contributor, picking up 217 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Lucas Christian Academy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Covenant Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Lucas Christian Academy will square off against Abilene Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Abilene Christian is ranked 21st, while Lucas Christian Academy is ranked 35th). Covenant Classical does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
