The Eagle Rock Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Verdugo Hills Dons at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Eagle Rock has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Eagle Rock's offense. They came up short against Chavez back in March, falling 16-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Eagle Rock has suffered against Chavez since March 5, 2018.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Verdugo Hills made sure to put some runs up on the board against Arleta on Friday. The Dons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 10-8. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Megan Brink made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Brink was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Aurora Mares was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Serena Baig, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Verdugo Hills' record is now 6-2. As for Eagle Rock, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Rock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Verdugo Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle Rock was able to grind out a solid victory over Verdugo Hills when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
