After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Royal, the Connell Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 victory over La Salle. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Connell also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2021.
Despite the loss, La Salle still got an impressive performance from Johan Valladares, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 54 yards and a touchdown. Valladares has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played.
Connell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for La Salle, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Connell will head out on the road to face off against Lynden Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Lynden Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. La Salle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
