Basketball Recap: Great Mills Comes Up Short

It was fun while it lasted, but Great Mills's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Friday. They came up short against the Laurel Spartans, falling 85-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (56), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Brown led the charge by putting up 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Taylor, who posted 21 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Great Mills fell to 3-1. As for Laurel, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Great Mills will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on La Plata at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Laurel and Bladensburg will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 284 points over their last three contests.
