The Notre Dame Regents are taking a road trip to face off against the South San Francisco Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Notre Dame is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Notre Dame earned a 7-3 win over Pioneer. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Regents.
The team relied heavily on Jaz Mina, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Annika Manjarrez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, South San Francisco posted their closest victory since April 12, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lowell 9-8.
Sydney Semans made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Kadence Yip was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Shiloh Semans, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
South San Francisco has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, their record is now 11-7.
South San Francisco's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Notre Dame has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South San Francisco, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Notre Dame keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
Notre Dame couldn't quite get it done against South San Francisco in their previous matchup back in May of 2015 as they fell 11-7. Can the Regents avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
