Basketball Recap: Berkeley's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Berkeley came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Stratford Knights 66-35. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Berkeley was led to victory by Aiyanna Moses and Madison Thomas. Moses went 8-for-14 to rack up 17 points along with six steals and five assists, while Thomas went 5-for-7 en route to 15 points and seven boards. Moses is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Kennedy Caldwell was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Berkeley was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stratford only posted two assists.

Despite the loss, Stratford had strong showings from Ciara Mustapher, who posted 17 points, and Sydnie Stepney, who put up eight points in addition to nine boards and three blocks. That was a full 48.6% of Stratford's points, marking the fourth time in a row Mustapher has had more than a third of the team's points.

Berkeley's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.1 points. As for Stratford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Berkeley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-12 victory against Cane Bay on the 12th. As for Stratford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-43 win against Goose Creek on the 12th.
