After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Maumee, Southview was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 14-11 victory over the Findlay Trojans. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kaiya Jacobs made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jana Batson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlee Poupard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
