Two dominant guards in Makai Lee and Nate Pope are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ross Little Giants will head out on the road to take on the Springfield Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Ross is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Ross, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-51 loss to Lorain.
Meanwhile, Springfield came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Woodward with a sharp 68-48 win on Tuesday. Springfield's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Springfield can attribute much of their success to Drew Martin, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Aaron Adams, who scored 11 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Martin grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Brandon Lawniczak, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Ross has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Springfield, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
Ross beat Springfield 48-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ross since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
