Softball Recap: Wolfe City Has No Trouble Against Cooper

Wolfe City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cooper, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Wolfe City Wolves were the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over the Cooper Bulldogs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Guiette and Lyric Sandlin did most of the damage at the plate: Guiette went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Sandlin scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Sandlin has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadlee Painter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Wolfe City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Wolfe City is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Cooper dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Wolfe City will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cooper: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
