The Norwood Mustangs will square off against the Ashland Clockers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Norwood hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
On Tuesday, Norwood came up short against Medfield and fell 5-1.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ashland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Hopkinton by a score of 7-4 on Monday.
Michael Schreiber and Chris Bratica made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Schreiber pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bratica tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Ashland is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. At bat, Schreiber went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Bratica got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Sodaberg, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin O'Brien, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Ashland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Ashland pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Norwood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
