It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the De La Salle Spartans can now relate to. They fell 27-14 to the Diablos on Friday. De La Salle's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why De La Salle lost, one person who can't be blamed is Toa Faavae. Despite the final result, he rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Those 162 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for him.
Mission Viejo found their leader in underclassman Luke Fahey, who rushed for 85 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Those 85 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for him. Phillip Bell was another key contributor, picking up 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
De La Salle's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Mission Viejo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
De La Salle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mission Viejo also has no future games currently scheduled.
