After flying high against the Excel Panthers last Monday, the Flomaton Hurricanes came back down to earth. The contest between Flomaton and Cottage Hill Christian Academy wasn't particularly close, with Flomaton falling 56-39. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Flomaton of the 59-23 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Thursday.
Flomaton's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Jacie Himes and Sahria Jones. Himes scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Jones scored 12 points. That was a full 48.7% of Flomaton's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Flomaton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flomaton will take on Mobile Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Pensacola Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
