Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Alexander's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Alexander unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ray Texans. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Texans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Ray's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tripp Thompson, who shot 58% from the field on his way to 15 points. Thompson is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Zaragoza, who posted 13 points along with five assists and three steals.

Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Ray, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Alexander and Ray should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bulldogs will face off against Pleasanton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (73 vs. 814). Meanwhile, Ray (ranked 79th) will meet Vela (ranked 474th) at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
