The Irondequoit Eagles were the 38-21 winner over the Brockport Blue Devils when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Irondequoit fell 48-41 to Brockport on Friday. Irondequoit has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Irondequoit's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Smith, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The contest was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ellie Bottiglier, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Irondequoit were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Irondequoit's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Brockport, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Irondequoit will be home for the holidays to greet Victor at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Brockport will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newark at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
