SPARTA, N.J. -
Parsippany (N.J.) jumped out to an early lead against
Sussex County Tech (Sparta, N.J.) and never looked back on the way to a 21-8 victory on Saturday.
The Redhawks scored seven points in the first quarter. Parsippany scored on a touchdown run by
Max Berns.
After taking the lead on a Berns touchdown run in the first quarter, PHS led 14-0 at the half.
The Redhawks' standout player in the win was Berns. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown.
Sussex County Tech's lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
Parsippany had struggled this season, allowing 34.2 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Sussex County Tech, which notched a 28-7 victory over Newark Academy in its previous outing. The win was a nice bounce back for PHS, which lost to Kittatinny Regional last week, 34-15.
Sussex County Tech (3-4) will play a non-conference game against Eldred next week, while Parsippany (1-6) will take on Newton in a Northwest Jersey - Freedom game.
