Windermere Prep has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Bishop Moore Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Windermere Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Bishop Moore likes a good challenge.
Even though Jones scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Windermere Prep still came out on top. Windermere Prep strolled past Jones with points to spare, taking the game 71-56. Given Windermere Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Jones is ranked 256th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Windermere Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Shoptaw, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists. Shoptaw set a new season high mark in steals with five. Brandon Bass Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Moore had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on Seabreeze with a sharp 59-38 win.
It was another big night for Cameron Codio, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Justin Suarez, who scored ten points.
Windermere Prep's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Bishop Moore, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Windermere Prep couldn't quite finish off Bishop Moore in their previous meeting back in January and fell 61-58. Can Windermere Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
