New Hartford is 8-2 against the Red Devils since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The New Hartford Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully New Hartford is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Devils in New York (the Spartans are ranked 297th, while the Red Devils are ranked 618th).
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Hartford beat the Warriors 38-33. The win made it back-to-back wins for New Hartford.
Meanwhile, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill came into Friday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Notre Dame by a score of 57-46 on Friday. The victory was just what Vernon-Verona-Sherrill needed coming off of a 71-29 defeat in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vernon-Verona-Sherrill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Atticus Roque, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Roque has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Eliijah Donegan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
New Hartford's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-12.
Everything came up roses for New Hartford against the Red Devils when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 91-47 win. With New Hartford ahead 47-27 at the half, the game was all but over already.
