Valley View is 7-2 against Arlington since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Valley View Eagles' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Arlington Lions at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th. Hopefully Valley View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
Valley View managed to keep up with Liberty until halftime, but things quickly went downhill from there. Valley View ended up on the wrong side of a tough 75-51 walloping at the hands of Liberty. While losing is never fun, Valley View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Liberty is ranked 93rd).
Despite the defeat, Valley View had strong showings from Jalyn Talbert, who scored 20 points, and Jonah Cowart, who scored 10 points. The contest was Talbert's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cedric Grant, who scored 4 points.
Meanwhile, Arlington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it three last Saturday. They walked away with a 74-63 win over Artesia. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Valley View's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Arlington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Valley View and Arlington were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but Valley View came up empty-handed after a 62-61 loss. Can Valley View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
