Baseball Recap: Lockwood Beats Sarcoxie for Their Third Straight Win

Lockwood waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Sarcoxie Bears. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 9-6 win the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Nik Thieman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Lockwood is 3-1 when Thieman posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landry Ogden, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Roper Gray, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lockwood picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Sarcoxie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Lockwood has already played their next game (against El Dorado Springs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Sarcoxie, they will square off against Ash Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
