Mt. Zion barely beat Pleasant Plains the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves blew past the Cardinals 8-2 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Mt. Zion is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.

Mt. Zion and Pleasant Plains should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Braves will face off against Tolono Unity at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (44 vs. 196). Meanwhile, Pleasant Plains (ranked 45th) will meet Williamsville (ranked 184th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 2.4, the Bullets 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
