Sophia Bello made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie Harris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Haylie David, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Indian Rocks Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .629 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lakeside Christian challenged Bradenton Christian on Tuesday. The Lions came up short against the Panthers, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Lions couldn't push the score so high this time.
Lakeside Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamisen Rheintgen, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Indian Rocks Christian's record is now 5-18. As for Lakeside Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Indian Rocks Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .785. However, it's not like Lakeside Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Indian Rocks Christian couldn't quite get it done against Lakeside Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
