The St. Mary's Academy Wildcats lost against the Colorado Academy Mustangs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. St. Mary's Academy suffered a tough 47-24 defeat at the hands of Colorado Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Mary's Academy in their matchups with Colorado Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emily Rodriguez. Despite the final result, she scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and eight blocks. Rodriguez hasn't dropped below two blocks for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleena Nauman, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Colorado Academy had a senior duo take command as Naomi Wolff scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals and Alex May dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. May is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Anna Johnson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
St. Mary's Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Colorado Academy, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Academy will square off against The Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Colorado Academy is on the road again on Thursday and plays Peak to Peak at 4:00 p.m. on February 8th. Peak to Peak is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
