It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Arnold had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Godby Cougars 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Marlins, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Gage Williams and Nico Landavazo dominated on the mound. Williams pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Landavazo pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Josh Lindsey was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Mason Laymon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Arnold always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Godby only posted an OBP of .381.
Arnold has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Godby, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-15.
As of now, neither Arnold nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
