After flying high against the Taravella Trojans on Monday, the Fort Lauderdale Flying L's came back down to earth. Fort Lauderdale fell just short of Pompano Beach by a score of 45-42. Fort Lauderdale was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pompano Beach apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Leading Pompano Beach to victory were Judaiah Elam and Sydney Lumpkins. Elam scored 17 points, while Lumpkins scored 22 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Elam has scored at least 25% of Pompano Beach's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Paterson, who scored five points.
Fort Lauderdale has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Pompano Beach, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8.
Fort Lauderdale and Piper will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Piper is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Pompano Beach, they will head out on the road to face off against Coconut Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Coconut Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
