This season hasn't been kind to the Cummings Cavaliers, who are still winless after their ninth game. They had to suffer through a rough 48-9 loss at the hands of Northwood. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Northwood is ranked 72nd).
Northwood was led to victory by Skylar Adams and Alyia Roberts. Adams scored 11 points along with three steals, while Roberts scored 13 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Roberts has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keira Parrish, who scored seven points along with two blocks.
Cummings bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Northwood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cummings will face off against Southeast Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Chatham Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Chatham Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.3 points per game.
