The Cyprus Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Davis Darts at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Cyprus has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Cyprus is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since May 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of West Field by a score of 4-2.
Calee Sharp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelaide ( Addie ) Winn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Davis had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the RedHawks 2-0.
Not much got past Serena Roth, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Bountiful off the board.
At the plate, Hadlee Isaacs was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hannah Garlock, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
Davis' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cyprus, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Cyprus hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Davis struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cyprus skirted past Davis 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Darts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
