Basketball Game Preview: Brentwood War Eagles vs. First Presbyterian Day Vikings

The Brentwood War Eagles will venture away from home to take on the First Presbyterian Day Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Brentwood didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Robert Toombs Christian Academy, but they still walked away with a 55-51 victory. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Crusaders are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brentwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cadence English, who went 9 of 15 en route to 30 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points English has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Barron, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds.

Meanwhile, First Presbyterian Day had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past the Knights with points to spare, taking the game 56-42.

Brentwood's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for First Presbyterian Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Brentwood strolled past First Presbyterian Day when the teams last played on December 13th by a score of 52-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brentwood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
