After a string of six wins, Abingdon/Avon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monmouth United Red Storm. If the Tornadoes were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Red Storm when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Evan Hook was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Kolbe Hightower made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Abingdon/Avon's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Monmouth United, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Abingdon/Avon beat Monmouth United by a score of 3-2 later that day.
