Softball Recap: Montverde Academy Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Montverde Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Foundation Academy on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 7-1 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Nevaeh Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miranda Murch and Addison Poe did most of the damage at the plate: Murch fired off two home runs while going 2-for-4, while Poe went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two home runs gave Murch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Vivino, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Montverde Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foundation Academy only posted a batting average of .185.

Montverde Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Foundation Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Montverde Academy will venture away from home to face off against Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Foundation Academy, they will welcome Satellite at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Scorpions will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
